SHELTER SAREE
Due to the nature of this item, we request that you contact us if you wish to purchase so we can help you find the ideal size.
In a collection which is essentially our first attempt real at womenswear it was beyond important to do a piece of 'occasion wear' and a matter of pride to do an adaptation of a traditional Indian item. Choosing to do a Saree was daunting, how do you say something new about something that has had so much said about it?
Due to the nature of the rest of our work, apart from it being beautiful it mattered to us that it was user friendly. We started from a simple idea of a gown that could be worn on a red carpet or wedding, that could then be adjusted to allow you to sit down and eat your meal in comfort.
We chose to stick to 3 core identifiers of a saree... 1. Wraps around the waist in a pleated or layered manner, 2. covers the bust, and 3. has a stole thrown over the shoulder.
From there we moved back to the thought of allowing the user to sit down comfortably while pushing the boundary of the typical structure (or potentially lack thereof) seen on a saree. We used meters and meters of boning to achieve a strong skeletal like rippling drape. Then we added meters and meters of zipper to completely undo this exact same rippling drape, allowing the user to remove all the bulk, and sit down.
The use of the zipper ensures that the same drape is achieved every single time simply by zipping the component back on. The fact that we use only 1 zipper, that is close to 20 meters long reduces the amount of fiddling you need to do, take a few laps with the one zip and you're done... no need to fumble around with multiple zippers.
The user can wear the excess fabric on their elbow or shoulder as an accessory to manage the fabric, or alternatively around thier neck to create a cavernous, and haunting hood.
+ Look at it, really look at it.

GREEN INITIATIVE
Clothing is the 2nd most Co2 emission producing industry in the world behind the fossil fuel industry. We aren't exactly saints considering we use synthetic fabrics here and there. This initiative allows us to clear some guilt, and you to also feel better about your purchase.
Together we can do good
How it works:
- You place an order (Thanks)
- We automatically plant a tree (Technology is amazing)
- ???
- That's it
How its possible:
We are working with a company called Ecologi, which automatically uses a portion of our profits from every sale to plant a tree.
Just the beginning
We aim to become fully carbon Neutral by 2031, and will keep updating this area with more info as we progress toward and accomplish this goal.
